Thousand Islands Rescue

These wonderful tributes to, and remembrances of, our friend Mark Davis were sent to the WWNY-TV website. We thank them for giving people the chance to post, and for letting us repeat them here.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mark’s family, friends, and colleagues. This was a senseless act of violence that took the life of a dedicated VOLUNTEER who had dedicated his life to helping others. The North Country EMS Program Agency is very proud of all the EMS providers in Saint Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis County for their dedication and service to their communities, please keep up the good work in honor of Mark, who had a passion for EMS and helping others.
Ann Smith

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and co-workers of Mark.

Let me start out by saying our thoughts and prayers go out to mark and his family.I’ve been an emt for several years now and this situation really puts a scare in to me as well as other fellow emts. Living in the north country running calls with out the police there is more common then not. I hope that this terriable accident opens alot of eyes for scene safety and ems workers as well as the police.

My prayers and thoughts go to Mark and his family. He was a great guy and would do anything for anyone. He will be missed so much. We all love you Mark!!!
Jessica Burns

Our most sincere condolences to Mark’s Family and his extended EMS Family.

Please do not let this incident discourage YOU from helping other people, positive outcomes far outweigh negative ones.

Looks like 2 heroes , Dutch and Mark, are heading to Heaven together. You left wonderful feelings down here, and hopefully remind people to start right here at home to make a difference.

Mark, friend, brother, son, boyfriend, stranger, whatever Mark was to you, you have lost a truly beloved person. I lost a friend, someone to joke around with, someone to be serious with on calls. We loved each other and I will miss him

We are in total shock over this. I’ve known Mark and family for many years and they are very nice hard working caring people. Not only was he a good friend of mine, he was like a son to me, I will truly miss him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and to let them know he will be in our hearts forever. Love the Richmond Family.
Gordon and Marcy Richmond

Every time I got the chance to work with him, the smile never came off his face. He made a shift or transport seem as if we were being paid to have a good time. He gave 100% of his time to the people, asking for nothing in return but a smile from his co-workers and his brother & sister volunteers.

Thank you Mark.
My thoughts are truly with his family.

I am a volunteer EMT with Star Lake FIre & Rescue in St. Lawrence County. My heart goes out to Mark’s family, friends and co workers. As Ann Smith said “This was a senseless act of violence”. Who would have thought something this tragic would have happened in the North Country. My prayers and thoughts are with each and every one of you. God Bless.
Laurie Northrop

Even though I didn’t know MARK my sorrow goes out to his family, friends and fellow EMT’s all around the area. Having friends in the Gouverneur, Richville and Antwerp squads I found it hard to believe that that could happen to someone who was giving their self to help others. I hope this doesn’t discourage the fine work that you all do. Keep up the job you do as I believe that Mark will now be watching over your shoulder to see if your doing it right. In MARK’s memory continue on.

LORD,
Grant me the wisdom so that I may treat
those of your children that lay at my feet.
Let my hands be gentle, sure and swift
to impart to them your sacred gift.

Let me see only a patient’s need
not their color, race or creed.
Help me always to be my best
even when it’s on my hours rest.

Grant me the insight to understand why
patients of mine are going to die.
Let me remember that when they do
there is a wonderful life in Heaven with You.

Lord, if in the time of duty I should fall
help my family to hold their heads tall.
For it was You who decided that I should be
one of your chosen few, an EMT.
MARK WE ALL WILL MISS YOU

I didn’t know Mark, but it still makes my heart ache, for all that did. My prayers go out to all his family and friends.

I worked with Mark at Sleepy Hollow awhile back, spent some nights together hanging out on the “slow” nights, what a great guy, always ready to please and never had a bad thing to say. Always cooked me dinner and helped me stock my coolers. Since then, I began working at 911 and he pursued his dream of becoming a paramedic. He told me in Aubrey’s one day that he had found his calling, I was so proud of him. My heart aches for his family. Rest in peace, Mark. You will be missed tremendously in our community.

My heart goes out to the family,he was just too darn young,I hope the state will open their eyes and see that this job too can be volatile,I support the idea that all EMT’s should wear a bullet proof vest when they are out on call’s.

God Bless Mark’s family and friends and all the departments he worked with. We don’t know why things happen as they do, but we know our Maker is in charge. Our town will forever be grateful to Mark.
Debbie

My thought and prayers go out to Mark’s family, friends, and fellow brother’s and sister’s in emergency services. Mark was a good friend to me and would do anything asked of him. May his gentle and loving hands guide us all as we continue to do what he so loved doing himself. Mark, you will be sadly missed but not forgotten. R.I.P Paramedic

My prayers are with Mark’s family and fellow workers in Cape Vincent and TIERS.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you
In the palm of his hand.”

god bless you bro
