CLAYTON -- James W. Traufler, 47, of County Route 181, formerly of Theresa died Sunday evening at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

Born October 24, 1963 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Clark T. and Anne Schlepegrell Traufler, and graduated from Indian River High School in 1981. He also earned his Associate Degrees in Human Services and Criminal Justice at Jefferson Community College.

Mr. Traufler was in the U.S. Army from 1981 to 1995, serving in Germany, S. Korea, CA, TX and AL. Following his honorable discharge, he and his family moved to Theresa, then Clayton.

He married Chong Sun Shin on December 2, 1985 in South Korea.

Mr. Traufler enjoyed puzzles, models, reading and computers.

Surviving besides his wife, are a son, Derek, formerly known as William, Clayton; 4 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law, Clark and his companion, Tracy Mages, Buffalo, George, FL, John and Betty, Theresa and Frank and Miranda, Redwood; a sister and her husband, Christine and Randy McCue, WY; nieces and nephews.

His father, Clark died 4/6/77, his mother, Anne died 2/19/77 and his sister, Aimee Williams died before him.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Barry Proctor of the Indian River Baptist Church, Philadelphia officiating. Burial will be at the Military Cemetery in Sackets Harbor.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
