TIERS, Inc.

Medical Transportation For The River Communities

Since 2003, Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Service has served northwest Jefferson County with top-quality emergency medical care and transportation. Through a generous donation from River Hospital, we now offer non-emergency transportation for folks with mobility and transportation problems--at a very reasonable cost.

OUR SERVICES

Our van undergoes rigorous top-to-bottom state safety inspections and our drivers are state-certified and specially trained to provide safe, comfortable and compassionate service in a relaxed atmosphere.

* State law prohibits TIERS Inc. from taking any responsibility for patients with oxygen unless they are able to recognize and solve problems with their oxygen themselves, or are accompanied by someone qualified and able to do so.  Stretcher and acute/advanced medical care transportation is available through Thousand Islands Rescue.

HOW TO BE READY BEFORE YOU CALL US

When you call us, there are a lot of questions we have to ask you. Here is a list of questions that you should have answers ready for:

the address where we will pick the client up,  phone number, and a name and contact number for a responsible friend or family member

the name of the doctor being seen, and the address and telephone number of the office, clinic or facility where the client will be seen

does the person being transported weigh over 200 pounds?

is your wheelchair a specialized chair (orthopedic or extra size)?

are there stairs or porch steps that must be used to move the wheelchair?

is there a wheelchair ramp at the client's home?

will we need to cross a lawn with the wheelchair (no sidewalk)? (this is especially important with heavy clients, in rainy weather or during thaws when the ground is soft, and in winter because of snow and ice)
